belive it or not the dual bend has a shorter throw then a single bend. so if you have a sohc you have that long throw from gear to gear and if you notice in a dohc the throw is shorter, due to the fact of the dual bend. so if you want you can just get a gsr shifter or ls, b16, mount it on you sohc for a shorter throw. (if you low on cash) (still oem ) or just fork out the money for a skunk 2 or a b&M.
