You're really gonna love this- the last 5 head gasket jobs I did, I didn't even bother to get the head resurfaced to professionally checked for warpage. All still going strong. Now that's stupid, but I'm cheap!

85 735 -six years ago due to overheating it.
my nephews Mitsu something-made it back to Alabama from Buffalo so he could trade it in.
88 735-this past xmas, due to external coolant leakage.
my kids 89 hatch-this first time because the timing belt broke (that's how I bought the car cheap, then this past xmas he blew the radiator and overheated it.

I too am guilty of doing headgaskets without having them checked for warp h: knock on wood they are all still going strong.
