I <3 systems that are easily modified.

SegaCD, TurboDuo, NeoGeo CD, Panasonic 3D0 are all machines that will play a CD-R directly.

The Sega Saturn had a "solderless" modchip. It would fit between the laser and motherboard.

The PSX (bigger machine) had a parallel I/O port. You could purchase a "game enhancer" to bypass system security though it.

The Xbox had all types of modchips you'd secure to the motherboard via screws.

The PS2 had a case modification + boot cds.



The GameCube wasn't cool at all. h:
