Ah, gotcha.

Well, it's not advised to run something like that away from the front windshield. There's an in-unit satellite antenna that needs clear reception.


If you wanted to use the hutch, the only wire you'd have to run is a 12v. It's like hardwiring the old radar detectors.

Clip the end of the cigarette adapter
On the 12V live wire, run an inline fuse, something with a quick blow out.
Run 1 wire to the same power source as the radio.
Ground the other wire to something bare and metal.

The only crappy thing is that you lose the mobility of the GPS. You'd have to buy another cigarette adapter if you wanted to move it from car to car.
