short shifters
I've worn out the forum search and google trying to figure this out.
I've read that a dual bend short shifter will put the shift nob in a more stock location and a single bend will move the nob forward. But what I can't seem to find is a decent comparison picture of the stock shifter versus a short shifter. At least for most. I've seen a few comparisons but I can't seem to find a skunk2 compared to stock and some others too. Are all short shifters going to decrease the height of the shifter? I'm lookin at getting a short shifter because I want the shorter throw, but also in hopes that it will help to get the 1,3,5 shift points farther back and closer to me. I'm 6 foot and fifth gear is just about at full extension of my arm because I have to sit far enough back to accomodate my legs. So if a short shifter is just gonna move the shift point down farther its not really gonna help me get 5th gear closer. I've also been looking at shifter extenders. I suppose I could get a short shifter, and then an extender to bring the shift nob back up to stock height, but that seems like it would defeat the purpose of getting a short shifter to begin with. So if anyone has a comparison picture with a stock and short shifter that would be awesome! I'd also like to hear ya'lls opinions on my situation. Or if there is another way to move the shifter back that I haven't looked at please let me know. Oh and before I fogret, I've got a 98 ex.
EDIT: Is it possible to install a single bend short shifter backwards to move the shift nob farther back or would that interfere with the ebrake?
