4 gears is less than 5 gears. It takes a car longer to accelerate with 4 longer gears than 5 shorter ones.
What rock did you crawl out from under n00b, it's a well know fact that given two of same car, one auto one 5-speed, the 5-speed will be faster. There has been no argument about this, ever, untill you came along

I'm sure you're addressing me. What cave did you come out of, apeman? It is my actual and lengthy experience that automatics have always beaten a stick shift. All of you are reading too much Grand Prix, Nascar, Lemans, etc. glamorizations which are myths like anything else.
