Well I decided to try it anyway, everything went good, the shifting is super tight now but I noticed on my way to work this morning when I get up to about 80, the shifter rod (rod comming from transmission) is hitting on the exhaust.

I guess my question is, where has anyone gotten one that has been the right size, or should I get an adjustable one, or should I just 'trim' mine down(j/k).
first off i got my short throw shifter off ebay and had it for about 6 months and no problems but it depends on what seller you get it from you buy the cheapest you get the cheapest...i paid like $35 for a titanium finish short throw shifter and knob

as far as the tightness you just over tightened the bolt that goes thru the bottom of the shifter you can adjust it for tighter/looser shifts

as far as the shifting rod im assuming you mean the main shifting linkage rod....if it didnt hit before(which it shouldnt have) the shifter install then it shouldnt hit now...cuz as already clearified really the only thing changed about the shifter is the location of the pivot ball.....rasing it makes a shorter throw...thus you must have not bolted somethin up right
