Are you seriously thinking about bending the linkage? Sounds like a pretty senseless idea to me. :eh:

Is it hitting the exhaust piping or a heat shield? Just remove the shield if that's the problem. If it's the piping, either replace the shifter or have that section of exhaust changed to have a bend in it or routed around the shifter. I'll be that changing the shifter to something of higher quality would likely be the simplist solution.
