I miss classic conservatives.
Ones that don't spend money like drunken sailors. Especially money that's not actually there.
That would like to keep the government the hell out of our personal lives.
The ones that respect ALL points of the constitution/bill of rights, not just the 2nd ammendment. The rest are very important. I feel that a lot in the current (as of this minute) government like to ignore the 1st, 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, and 10th ammendments.
Ones that respect, and encourage, the seperation of the branches of government, and the seperation of church and state.
Were for CONSERVING the natural resources we have in this nation.
Real family values, regardless of how the family is constructed.
The economics of social services will always be debated and I see both sides, but if the conservatives were like what I stated above, I'd define myself as a conservative. But, Libertarians tend to be too batshit crazy (same with the green party), the republicans are none of the above, and the closest party have to that now is the Dems.
I've been smiling all day. I know the next two years will be a political gridlock, especially with the President's veto power, but I'd prefer no direction to a bad direction.
