If you are looking at an Si, you save 180-200 pounds getting an 88-89 over a 90-91. The discs and 3 hp don't really make up for it. The Si also has a rear sway bar.
Did they come with 15" wheels (can't remember) - maybe a big reason why the Si transmission was geared for such acceleration.

The 1988 Si was the lightest of the Si models as it didn't have the side impact beams (a good 20-30lbs extra weight).
