IMO, a hospital should be aware of this scenario and have an option that is non-partisan...wether it's appointing a non-partisan surgeon, having a "non-blessed" wing of the hospital...something....I don't care.
And unless you are liberatarian, you know and better agree that even a privately funded hospital holds and needingly holds accords with the federal and state laws.
Andy, in the situation above the immediate urgent care is to ensure that the woman is OK first, not provide her an abortion, and not provide her the morning after pill. Besides, even if she was raped and knocked out an abortion is not going to work because she has probably not even conceived yet, and to get the morning after pill she can get the prescription from a doctor that does not have religous objections and obtain it at the pharmacy when she is released. Just because a religous hospital does not allow the morning after pill does not mean all their doctor's cannot prescribe it. And while hospitals are state regulated religous hospitals do have certain leeways based on their religion, and as long as they do not take state funding they can enjoy these.
