The redline is a mechanical limitation, not an electrical one. Once you get to the redline indicated on the tachometer, the engine is near the limit of what it can handle without damage. The electronic fuel cut rev-limiter is to keep idiots who pass redline from blowing up the engine.
The B18A1 redlines at 6500RPM, the powerband starts to fall off between 6-6,3k.
