DVD Shink just rips the DVD straight to your hdd. It can also compress and take stuff out of the dvd, but it is still in dvd format on your hdd.

You could use the programs others are telling you to use, or you could use DVD shrink to rip the dvd to an image file, then just mount it with a program like Alcohol.

Do you really need the quality of a dvd if you are just going to watch it on your computer? Personally I would use a different program and rip it to divx or xvid to save hdd space.
