I disagree. I think that it takes an incredible amount of arrogance to think that your belief is the correct one. Especially when there are hundreds of cultures out there that don't have the same belief as you. What makes your belief right and their belief wrong? Some culture believe in god and heaven, some believe in many gods and reincarnation, while others (atheists) believe in no god and no heaven. I think that it is incredibly arrogant to say that your belief is right and their belief is wrong. All we can say about god for sure is that we don't know. If you choose one belief over the other then that's fine. I have no problem with that. I choose to believe in facts and (for me) the facts point to there not being a god (or possibly there being a god but we have no proof of his/her existence and therefore no reason to believe in him/her). For me the facts are that every human civilization has made up god(s) to explain things that they didn't understand. We are now at a point where we are able to explain these things and because of this there is no use for the belief in god(s). Unfortunately, these beliefs have become such an integral part of our culture that some people are having a very hard time letting these old beliefs go. I personally find it ignorant to believe in the bible when at the very least it has been extremely tampered with by men with a political agenda. Even if there is a god and the gospels were complete fact at one point in time it is apparent that they are now more fiction then fact. This has been proven, at the very least, by matching up dates with events and seeing that the time line set forth in the bible extremely inaccurate. That is my problem with Christianity. But like I said I don't have a problem with other people believing in it, just don't try to pass it off as fact to those that don't believe in it.
With the way the world is heading I honestly believe that in the not to distant future no one will believe in god anymore. Honestly, I like the idea of their being a god and heaven. It gives me something to look forward to and makes death less scary. But at the same time I think that that is part of the reason people invented god. We know that we are going to die and it makes in less scary for us. Again, this is just my belief. I certainly don't think I am arrogant and I thought it was extremely ignorant of you to say that atheists are either arrogant or stupid.
