True, but ideally you want a flat torque band. Looking at the current M3's chart, most of the torque is reached at a high rpm. Hence, the area is small.
and what was your point? it's a bmw not an acura/honda/etc.
over 200lb/ft at 2500rpm. area looks pretty large to me.
