Hi

I have a 92 Accord, 4 Door Automatic, 160,000 miles. A couple days ago my engine felt like it was driving kind of rough so I thought I was low on oil. I checked the oil and the level was good. i then checked the transmission fluid and that was good to. My concern though is that the car is changing gears slowly. I took it into the local shop to have them look at it and they said I need new spark plugs, new spark plug cables, and a new filter. They quoted me a price of $400. So my questions are:

1. Would changing those things really make a difference for my slow changing gear problem? I think this type of problem would be a transmission, or catalyt converter problem?

2. Is it worth $400 to change those things, I mean cant I change those things easily myself?

Anyway, I am not one new to forums, and am happy I found your forums, so I will be looking for directions on how to change the above mentioned. If anyone can help me by answering my questions, and pointing me in any useful directions I appreciate it.
