It could be that they are sticking. Are they the front or rear? I know the rears are often installed incorrectly causing the pads to stick. If you have the means to, get under the car and check things out. Its sounds like the shop you took it to isn't really giving you the straight deal. I would have at least expected them to pressure bleed the system.
