Because the Accord is a slug on an autox course. The early 90's Civic is the darling of the STS class, but takes a lot of money and time to prep (though probably still cheaper than a Fit) and looks too 'boy racer' once prepped. The only Handa that does well around the cones is the S2000, and since it got bumped up a class last year, its not the powerhouse it was.

The Fit is a great autox starting point. Its light, already has great handling, and beats a Z06 through the salom. Even without engine mods, it should be a strong H-stock or G-stock entry.
