i wasnt implying the problems were related, but the starting issue sounds dead on for a bad main relay.

the main relay is a small box (relay) located under the dash near the steering wheel. usually what happens is the solders become weak, and after its warm out they will seperate.. and it will take 5, 10, 30+ minutes to cool back down and work again. im sure threres some DIY threads for re-soldering it somewhere, i know iv had to do it to my integra and civic -- its a fairly common problem on early 90s hondas.
