Default Clutch Master Cylinder (need helk)

I just replaced the clutch slave cylinder and before I bleed the lines I double checked the master cylinder. My clutch lost pressure instantly back in November and now that winter is over I want the car out of the garage and back on the road.

I don't see any instances of fluid inside or around the master cylinder against the firewall. Is it normall to have grease showing like it is in the pic and somebehind the upper section of the clutch pedal?

Just wanted to see if this was normal so I don't waste time and the new brake fluid I bought.

Thanks.
