My point being, don't ask who makes parts, parts for parts sake is kind of a nice but it's not adding value, unless quantity of parts not OEM are the value. Just because there is a part doesn't mean you need it, or should desire it.
What you should ask is, who makes the part to solve the circumstance I desire at hand.
If you want a car simply to modify, I'd look towards choices with a larger bench of inventory, who's gains will be greater in magnitude.
For example: todays selection of turbo enthuasiast cars generally have a larger accumulation of parts in general. And such items as wastegates, and other turbo upgrades will give you much larger HP gains then say a CAI for the same price.
And since we have defined $29K as not a lot of money to spend on a car the choices are pretty good in your favor, an EVO, STi, or maybe even a quality used Supra TT may show up for the same amount of cash. And $29k will also open up a good bit of the luxury market too, and some might already be FI cars with a great selection of parts...
