First thing I would do, find a new mechanic...
Did the pedal return all the way up before the replacement of the master cylinder? It should go floor to top of travel all on it's own rather briskley, the return spring alone should do that.
He's yanking your chain, and figures you're full of it.
If you don't know of a good local guy, give the dealer a try at this point. It's a start...
