because they lied and cheated durrr. It's the principle behind things, if people want liars and cheaters to work for them they will hire them. It is their business practice and they have the discretion to fire/hire whomever they please. Most places of business even ask you to sign an agreement in most contracts that state that all the information you have submitted is truthful/accurate to your knowledge. Therefore lying invalidates that contract and therefore is grounds for your dismissal.
