VTEC isn't a bolt-on mod. The entire head is setup to utilize VTEC in design and mechanics whereas a nonVTEC head is not.

VTEC requires the correct oil passages in the head, cams, rockers, solenoid, oil pressure sending unit, and ECU (not to mention wiring). You can't just slap the magic VTEC on a nonVTEC motor without replacing the entire head and updating other parts to enable the upgrade. Yeah, do some research...ls/vtec and minime swaps......or even vtec on non-vtec block searches...it's not hard
