for the most part, the spring/shock combos that people have been suggesting are really safe bets, as they have been used by many people and most people like them (aside from whoever said to get stock shocks and lowering springs...bad bad idea).

If you want a full coilover setup, which is what I personally would recommend, there are a couple of options:

Tein Basics are good, entry-level coilovers from a reputable companym and are only ride height adjustable.

KSport coilovers are about the same price (maybe a tiny bit more), but offer almost any spring rate you would want (the stock spring rates on KSports are stiffer than the Teins, but the ride isn't bad at all), and also are height, preload, and shock dampening adjustable. The only thing is that the company is like 2 years old (in the US...they've been around in Japan etc. for a lot longer).
