I dont care if the galant is AWD or not, a stock turbo, cranking the boost, and a bunch of free mods, and maybe an intake and a good flowing exhaust you'll hit 13.5 with good tires (that's if it's manual, if it's automatic... forget about it, smaller cams, injectors, and a lame 13g turbo) they run 14.9 stock... in good shape, lol. I will give it to DSMs though, they handle good, and they're great for straight line performance relatively cheap... they just cost you alot more in reliability in the long run, not to mention insurance costs lol
Holy old thread batman!!!
Meh... You should see my current project. Check out my website (sig). I found another Mirage/Colt hatchback chassis. I have $1300 in on it (total between BOTH the donor and the recipient chassiseseses and parts) and it's going to run low 12's spinning tires through the whole 1/4 mile, guaranteed. Probably traction limited to an 11.8 at 116-118 mph on a really good day because it's going to be FWD. It will weigh 2050lbs complete, and I'll be pushing 350whp on a used big16g that I have laying around (freebie) and an otherwise-stock bottom end. The motor mounts to make it work were $20 from a Hyundai Elantra, and every part is OEM Mitsubishi except the IC pipes which I'm making myself.
My insurance will actually drop $6/mo when I add it to my insurance because of a multi-car discount and also the fact that the car probably has a negative book value (yellow 1991 Dodge Colt GL automatic). ... and it won't handle well unless I get a GVR-4 hub/knuckle/brake assembly/suspension.
Now if I can just find the time to throw this $80 full engine seal kit in the motor, I'd get around to installing the engine... but GF probs, 2 jobs, house hunting, and maintaining my sanity are sort of blocking me from finishing it right now. There are other people that have done this swap so I'm no pioneer or anything, but it should be a lot of fun and that's what it's all about.
I have to give you credit. You are familiar with DSMs and it sounds to me like you have some racing experience... either in the stands paying attention, or on the track getting to know your competition. I can appreciate that. Best of luck with the Sol.
