There's a point in which a capacitor is doing more harm than good, IMO. If a car's electrical system only has problems when the stereo is cranked, then a cap will probably help. However, if the electrical system is struggling when the stereo is just on (even with lights & heaters on, etc) then installing something like a cap is probably just adding to the strain.
