I agree with going wireless. It will be easier because you can put the computers almost anywhere in the house without running cables. However, each computer will need to have a wireless ethernet card in order to receive the signal. So you would connect the cable modem to the wireless router which will then transmit the internet+network signal to any computers in range. You also usually have the option to hardwire 4 computers to the router if you want to. It is important to use the security options available on the router - aka WPA, WEP encryption so that nobody else but your family can get on and use your internet or your network. If you do not, you'll probably find that your neighbors and anyone driving by can use your internet. Hope this helps.
