Default ABS light comes on when driving

But not at first when i first start up the car. It has to warm up. However, when i step on the brake hard, the ABS works, then i start driving and the light turns on and the ABS becomes disabled and stops working. With my technician "skills" I would think that it would be a wheel sensor, but Im not quite sure. Would this cause the ABS to stop working? Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, I did do a search, and mixed responses were found. But nobody mentioned anything about the wheels locking up once the light was on. This happens because the ABS becomes disabled once the computer finds a problem. Do I have to pull a code? How do I do that?
