You will need to know how many amperes you will be drawing in order to select the right size fuses. The fuse at the battery and distribution block are not to protect the amp, they are to protect the wire.

The amps should be grounded to a point of zero voltage. Make sure you remove any paint from the surface that you are grounding the amps to. The single largest contributor of noise in a system is a bad ground.
