It's kind of a treasure to me in a way. EXACTLY like my 85 (probably better), except my 85 had a spot of rust over the rear wheel arch. These are just so rare that I had to get on it for old times sake... I sold the 85 to a coworker, and got a nice 89 se-i coupe in the brittany blue-- gorgeous whip.

83. I don't believe the problem was ever truly resolved until the 1.3, 1.6 and 1.8 engines were redesigned in 1984 (dropping the cvcc design) But otherwise, they were very reliable and durable little motors.
I don't know about the CVCC configuration being dropped. my 84 has a sticker that says "CVCC stratified engine" on the inner side of the hood. However, it is a different engine and I haven't heard of any head gaskets being a problem on the gen. 2.5's.
