About 2 years ago i got a ticket for doing the exact same speed(80 in a 55). I got mine reduced without it going on my record but i still had to pay the fine(around 300 bucks). That's the most important part because no points and no insurance increase. The reason i got it taken off my record was because they are supposed to be visible for at least 500 feet when using stationary radar. The guy that clocked me was not. He was off the road in a dark church parking lot. This only applies to local, not state troopers in my state. I don't know what the laws are in your state. Also, you have to convince the judge. He/she has the final say so in the matter if you go to court.
