where did you read this?...i'm on the site that lists the info about this scale and it doesn't say particulate emissions only...it also mentions how much smog is created...so a ranking of 1 on the scale means it emits 43.7 - 58.8 lbs of Smog-Forming Pollution Per 15,000 Miles...where a car with a 7 on the list gets 7.9 - 11.8...the 1.9t gets the 1 and the hybrid civic gets the 7 (here's the link: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/best/rating.shtml)
