along those same lines... exactly how much longer is your engine supposed to last by using synthetic oil? after reading everyone's comments here i feel slightly ashamed to say ive never used synthetic oil in my car. its about to hit 216k miles in the next week or two but i've never had any engine problems whatsoever.
also, would it be worth it to start using synthetic oil at this point?
