Have you been changing oil regularly? First thing you need to do is get ahold of a manual oil psi gauge and check what the psi is. Then if oil psi seems ok. I would check the valve lash if its adjustable. My 94 accord is and I done it when I put the waterpump and timing belts on it. I also remember egr passages pluggin up on these 4cyl motors and causing a ping detanation sound when you accelerate pretty easy to fix with a hanger and some sockets.

The car has about 89k miles and i saw that few weeks ago, the coolant was leaking around the oil pan area so the timing belt and water pump needs to be changed. And also a oil is leaking under the car and side of the engine. how hard is it to change those two? can the timing belt/waterpump cause the low oil pressure?
The water pump is kind of a chore, mine took me about 2hrs but I have done alot of them. 2.2l vtec has 2 timing belts, they have to be removed to replace the water pump. I would toss on a new valve cover gasket, and maybe have the mechanic change the oil seals on the crankshaft front seal, camshaft seal, and intermediate shaft seal (had one these come loose after I insalled it) thought was my fault so I fixed for free for customer found out later there was a tsb which is a plate that keeps the seal from coming off. Timing belt water pump wont cause low oil psi.

Well if it has low oil psi more than likely your lower end is gone be weak. Take and have the oil psi checked. Changing the head is pretty easy if you have done a few. I am thinking of stuffing a 97 Accord 3.0v6 into my 94 accord soon as i get a few measurements and find info about it. I cant pass up a wrecked 97accord sport for cheap.
