Any repairs or work on the transmission would not be cheap, and there is no guarantee that it will be completely fixed. My best bet would to be just sell that car "as is" and get a newer used or brand new car. Once you start having to repair anything, something else is bound to break down, and so on. this will cause your repair bills to be in the thousands. it'll be safer and easier to just buy another car...
