Hi.

I think it depends on where your at and everything, but from my experience some Aamco's suck. I'd say look for a good used tranny and have a small shop replace it.

Sounds to me like you ought to go put a brand new one in there for her and let her do it all again.

the stalling might be due to a bad ignition switch as there was a recall on my 99 for it not sure if the 98 is in that recall tho ...I argree with OHS sounds like you have internal damage in the trans.. if you are planing on keeping that car I would get a Honda rebuilt trans even tho we get them from the place that honda outsources their trans to here in N. Cal. and they work the first time around unlike Cottman or Ammco that you will be lucky if it doesn't leak oil all over your driveway as we had seen and heard first hand from Ammco customers that have brought their cars back more them 5 times to get the problem fixed! so drive it until it gets worse then get it replaced as it's not going to cost you more then a tow bill and nada if you have AAA plus

I remember 5yrs ago a frirend of mine (a girl) got a brand new 2000 honda civic and the same day at night time she came to show me the car it had 24miles on it.
well the same night she was driving n the highway to a party and she was going at 70+mph when she got hit n the right side n the speed lane, she was driving the auto like a manual shifting from d2 d3 d4.. from the impact she shift into reverse so u can imagine what happen to the tranny at that speed. lucky for her thats what save her life, she had lost control of the car and ofcourse she had full coverage. they replace the tranny and lots of body work and i dont know what else but the car was at the dealer for a month or more being work on. they never got the guy who hit them and i assume he was drunk or something because he never stop and she had a passenger with her who was pregnant at the time, I'm the godfather of the youngie she is healthy

i forgot to add once she shift into reverse the car came to a stop slowly and she hit her head n the windshield when it crash the wall at slow speed.
she still driving the same car and the tranny has been good so far.
