You don't lose torque. If anything, it is improved because it is more efficiently being placed on the ground.

7.5-9 lbs is ideal for the best acceleration, but you will run into stalling issues if you have an erratic idle like that on a turbo setup or aggressive cam profile setup. Fidanza is a good choice, but a little too light for my taste. I like the ACT Prolite.
