well i love my 944...front engine and the transmission in the rear give it perfect 50/50 weight distribution - stock they weigh 2600lbs and if you gut the car it'll get down to 2200lbs rather quickly...though my car has only 150hp it keeps up with much higher powered and heavier cars...and its handling sets it apart

imho it's one of the best handling cars out there (and quite a bargain as they are now $3k a piece)...and from the factory it was designed to be raced hard whereas very few cars were ever made for that

plus if you love gobs of hp and not much else you can always do a pretty easy small block chevy swap into it and go very, very fast (in fact keep up with some mod'd 911s)...or spend $8k on a built turbo racing engine from somewhere like www.broadfootracing.com

downside...parts are expensive! - they require timing belt to be replaced every 30k miles - they are not as reliable as a honda is but porsche builds cars for speed not economy
