Porsche 944?
I've been a 944 fan for a long time. My personal favorite is the 1988-1989 Turbo S. It comes from the factory with 247 hp over the regular turbo's 217, adjustable Koni shocks, big brakes from the 928 S4, and a 10-speaker stereo. Throw the 3.0 liter DOHC motor from the 944 S2 in there and with the turbo it's quite formidable.

well i love my 944...front engine and the transmission in the rear give it perfect 50/50 weight distribution - stock they weigh 2600lbs and if you gut the car it'll get down to 2200lbs rather quickly...though my car has only 150hp it keeps up with much higher powered and heavier cars...and its handling sets it apart
imho it's one of the best handling cars out there (and quite a bargain as they are now $3k a piece)...and from the factory it was designed to be raced hard whereas very few cars were ever made for that
plus if you love gobs of hp and not much else you can always do a pretty easy small block chevy swap into it and go very, very fast (in fact keep up with some mod'd 911s)...or spend $8k on a built turbo racing engine from somewhere like www.broadfootracing.com
downside...parts are expensive! - they require timing belt to be replaced every 30k miles - they are not as reliable as a honda is but porsche builds cars for speed not economy
