Let's stop turning this into a racial issue. It was a natural disaster that had the misfortune of hitting a predominantly black area. This area is now in utter chaos. It's a diffucult situation, and everybody needs to take a step back.

If anyone is to "blame", it is the FEMA bureaucracy and it's "tombstone" mentality. They take a
reactive stance, not a pro-active one.
It was well-known that a Cat 3 or 4 hurricane would overwhelm NO's water pumping systems. Since the Feds had 36 to 48 hrs advance notice that Katrina was on her way, it's frustrating to see them take so long to mobilize.
But to blame the President alone is myopic and foolhardy. :a:
