When my mom passed away a few years ago I inherited her Blazer. So after the dust settles I go down to DMV with a death cert and the title and attempt to register it under my name and the convo went something like this:
Me: I need to change the registration on this vehicle to my name. I am not sure how to do this because it was my mothers and she is deceased.
DMV: Ok sir do you have the signed title?
Me: Ummm...no I have the title but my mother who was the previous owner is deceased.
DMV: Well you will have to get the title signed by the previous owner.
Me: Do we speak the same language? I told you twice now she is deceased. Let me speak to your supervisor or someone who speaks english fluently.
DMV Super: So what is the problem here my clerk said you insulted him?
Me: Yes I did and I meant it. Nwo I want to register this vehicle under my name. The prvious owner was my mother and she passed away two months ago, I have a copy of the death certificate and the title. Now can we please get this done.
DMV Super: (looks at title) Oh well you will have to get this signed by the previous owner.
At this point I ask for all my paperwork back and walk away never again intending to try and register the vehicle again.
I can believe it, because i've had so much trouble with those idiots also. Sometimes, poeple can be so stupid.
