The size of the HU is a little bigger than the factory pocket size, so if you stack the HU on the pocket, and install it, you wont be able to put the kenwood HU trim ring round the unit faceplate. Without that trim ring, it will make your new kenwood hu faceplate look skinny and somewhat ugly.

With the aftermarket pocket, it will make your installation easier. For my car, I didnt use the bracket, I used the metal sleeve with an aftermarket kit with pocket. It looks alright. If you would like to see some pictures, I'll post them tomorrow
