People are talking as if Bush wrote the legislation by himself and signed it into law without any of the "checks & balances" our government has in place. The fact is that this bill was written by "OUR" Congressmen and Senators, voted on by both legislative bodies, and sent to President Bush for approval. This bill is so laden with pork (like any bill is not) it is rediculous, although not as bad as the transportation bill just signed. There is something in there to make everyone happy. From ethenol subsidies made from the corn in Iowa to sugar can subsidies for people in Hawaii and Florida. Just something for our respective legislators to come home and say, "Look what I did for you!"

There are some good things in here, but just because Bush signed it does not mean he is solely responsible for all of the content contained within.
