its entirely humain. they are still tiny. Also, this species doesn't get huge (see the zebra one in the pics above)....they will be healthy and grow to about 3-4" within the next year, and at that point, a larger aquarium will be setup.

Yes, many Cichlids are large. Yes, many Cichlids generate a lot of waste. Also true that many Cichlids are either too aggressive or too active for smaller tanks.
Luckily, Cichlids come in all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Many Cichlid keepers end up with large tanks for their fish because it allows greater flexibility and variety, but there are a few Cichlids that can do well in more conservative quarters.
If you have a tank less than 55 gallons, do not despair! Some soft-water dwarf Cichlids can be kept in tanks as small as 10 gallons if the tank is set up and stocked properly. There are small shell-dwelling African Cichlids that can also be kept in small tanks. African Mbuna can be kept in tanks as small as 30 gallons if chosen *very* carefully for temperament. "

Basically, the cheap cichlids are the smaller ones. unless you pay for the more expensive rare ones, you are fine!
