One night I was on an open road, decided to top my car out (god knows why) and when i hit 120 (at the very end of 4th gear), my car slowed to about 115. I thought it might be my 4th gear so I worked my way up to 120 in FIFTH. Same thing happened. It felt like a governor except for the fact that my car literally SLOWED itself (as if I'd lightly applied my brakes). It hasn't presented a problem in everyday driving, but it still bothers me, because I intend on breaking 120 mph speeds at the track in the future. Any advice? Thanks guys
Unless you're coming to us from Germany, you have no reason to be doing 120mph on a public road. Period.

So don't bring that irresponsibility to this board. We will not tolerate it.

This is your one and only warning.

Now, because I'm in a good mood, I'll answer your question.
What you're encountering is aerodynamic drag, which is to be expected, given the powerband of a naturally aspirated motor and the gearing of our cars. If you plan on taking your car out to Bonneville or some other sanctioned high-speed event, you'll need to cut drag & / or bolster your top-end power.
