Looks like this 3.0 V6 Auto Tranny problem is more widespread than I thought...my wife's 1999 Accord Coupe has only 57K miles and the tranny is starting to go...there's some noticeable slip when downshifting to 2nd gear.

My dealer has told me the transmission needs to be replaced...cost for a remanufactured unit: $2950.00 + $525.00 labor...the sad things is that we plan to sell the car ASAP...we just picked up a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Ltd. Wagon. I don't exactly want to spend $3500.00 on a car I don't want.

I think I'm going to call Honda Corporate and see if they'll do anything for me. The transmission has absolutely NOT been abused...my wife drives like my grandmother. There is no explanation except that there is either a design/engineering flaw or a manufacturer's defect. If Honda fails to help me out in any way then this will probably be my last...which is sad since I've had 3 Acuras in the past and for the most part liked them a lot..
