a pothole shouldnt do anything to the suspension... the only thing that would really screw up your suspension is if you get smacked in the side by another car, and they hit a wheel. The suspension is made to travel up and down, and absorb the shock of bumps or whatever it may be that you hit.
but the problem is that this damn pothole was so big that it might have given some horizontal force rather than just vertical force....
