Yes and yes.

The short ram can actually exist with the main part of the resonator still in the car. You would just have to take out the top part of the filter system.

The resonator actually restricts the air flow by reducing the noise made by the intake, which in turn mellows out the engine and exhaust sound.

By simply adding a SRI you would notice a deeper sound in the engine bay and the exhaust should sound a little more aggressive.
