Default Do I need new battery?

My wife left our car door open and her battery ran dead. I took it to Advance Auto Parts to get it charged. They put it on some computer machine and it didnt have enough power to turn the machine on. They said they could charge it on a regular battery charger aka non-computer, but it may not take a charge. The counter person said that the battery had a sticker that said it was manufactured in 2000, and that I needed a new battery because it was 5+ years old and may not hold a charge properly and all that stuff.

My wife's car is a 92 Accord 4 door. She has a sub set, and a pioneer cd player. Other than that, her car is stock. She has a Sears RoeBuck Diehard Battery.

Will I be ok if I use the old battery or am I better off buying a new one? I dont know crap about batteries.
